| A traction drive system is the simplest and most economical option for operations such as the Reliant Stadium retractable roof. With no slope to traverse, the roof rides on 40 wheels, each powered by one 5-horsepower motor. When the roof stops, rail clamps function as parking brakes to hold the roof in place on the rail.
