University of Phoenix Stadium

Uni-Systems designed, manufactured and installed the mechanization for the retractable roof and field at University of Phoenix Stadium. The cable driven roof bi-parts at the 50-yard line and rests over each end zone when in the open position. When closing, the roof panels are driven uphill along rails set in a vertical arc.

The 18.9 million pound natural grass playing field is driven in and out of the stadium along steel rails at the touch of a button. Storing the field out of doors allows the stadium to be used for conventions and other events, and simplifies maintaining a healthy grass playing field.
