Retractable Awning at Cucina Alba LA

After having successfully installed an En-Fold^® retractable canopy system for their destination lobster shack-inspired pop-up restaurant in the Hudson Yards development of Manhattan, NYC-based Prince Street Hospitality turned to Uni-Systems for a West Coast iteration of their flagship Cucina Alba restaurant, swapping Chelsea chic for trendy Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood. So naturally, the owners wanted an En-Fold^® retractable canopy system to cover their outdoor patio at Cucina Alba LA.

At 52’-8 1/4” wide with 38’-8” of extension length, the En-Fold^® retractable canopy at Cucina Alba LA covers nearly the entire patio dining and bar area of approximately 2,038 square feet.

Because the west side of the courtyard shares a party wall with adjoining property, a new demising wall was constructed around the En-Fold^® drive beams’ structural steel support columns—which had to be braced back to the existing main building structure with HSS beams to accommodate wind reaction loads.

Below the En-Fold^® retractable canopy’s unique bi-axially tensioned fabric panels, drape elegant alternating yellow and white Tempotest® Awning Starscreen decorative swagged fabric panels that reflect the overall theme of dining in a sun-drenched Tuscan villa courtyard. If sun or rain becomes too drenching, the En-Fold^® retractable canopy extends to save the day.
